Cigarette smoking kills at least 480,000 Americans each and every year.
Years ago, 50% of the adults in America smoked. Many of us can remember a time when there were ashtrays all over the house, people smoked inside their homes, in their cars, inside at work, on television, in restaurants, in bars, etc., etc.
Today, America has driven the smoking rate down from that 50% to 18% (43 million individuals, 1 out of every 5.5 adults in the United States).
What words best describe the individuals who make up the remaining 18% of Americans who still smoke?
You might think that they are the hardcore smokers who adamantly say, “I will never quit.”And yet, fully 70% of the remaining smokers in the United States want to quit. A word about quitting Cold-Turkey: Most people have tried to quit cold-turkey. The overwhelming majority have failed at trying to quit cold-turkey.
